Northbound lanes of I-35 reopened after car wreck that injured man

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Traffic was snarled for over an hour and a half in north Austin after Austin police and rescue crews helped remove a man trapped in a wrecked car early Wednesday on Interstate 35, officials tweeted. 

At about 6:15 a.m., officials with the Austin Fire Department tweeted that a rescue was underway after a wreck in the northbound lanes of I-35 near US Highway 183. 

The northbound lanes were blocked as officials with Austin-Travis County EMS worked to get the man out of the car. At about 6:50 a.m., officials said the man had been safely removed and transported to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. 

Officials tweeted that all lanes of the I-35 were reopened at 7:15 a.m.
