AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Down Syndrome Association of Central Texas helped families start the holidays a little early this year. It invited children with Down Syndrome to an afternoon filled with dancing and outdoor games on Sunday — and of course a chance to say hello to Santa.
This holiday party gives families from around the area a chance to connect with each other.
“I think having a sense of community is the most important thing,” said the Noveskey family. “I think for us, when Liam came into the world, we had a lot of questions. And we had a lot of fears. And I think during that time we felt very alone.”
Dozens of children and their parents enjoyed the festivities, which also included a chance to snap a photo with Santa and hear him read a story.
It was the association’s last big event of the year.
