AUSTIN (KXAN) — The southbound lanes on the lower deck of North Interstate 35 are back open after a driver crashed into the back of a semi-truck and was pinned underneath it early Sunday morning.
Austin-Travis County EMS tweeted they got the call at 4:02 a.m.
Emergency responders had to lift the semi-truck off the car to rescue the driver who was trapped inside.
EMS crews transported him to Dell Seton Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries and two other adults with non-life-threatening injuries.
Austin fire officials say the extrication took 30 minutes.
ATCEMS says multiple vehicles were involved in the crash but it is unclear how many vehicles and how they were involved.
