AUSTIN (KXAN) — Alamo Drafthouse is in the initial stages of developing a movie subscription service, similar to MoviePass, but it’s not in Austin yet.
Alamo Drafthouse introduced Denver to its beta test/waitlist Tuesday, joining Yonkers, New York, and Raleigh, North Carolina, as the three cities able to pay for a membership.
According to Alamo Drafthouse’s website, a subscription gives the customer more movies for one flat monthly fee.
“In order to learn what features our customers like the most, we’ll test different features of the program at different price points,” Alamo Drafthouse wrote in its release. “It’s possible during the Beta Test that you may subscribe to a slightly different plan than someone else. We’re not playing favorites, it’s just (data) science.”
The Alamo Season Pass is built into Alamo’s mobile app, which allows the movie-goer to reserve a seat days ahead of time and make it to the movies without stopping at the box office or paying for a single ticket.
