MANOR, Texas (KXAN) — Manor New Tech High School freshman Grace Minnix’s artwork was recently chosen by Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott to hang in the office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

The announcement was made March 10 at the Texas Art Educators Association reception for the Youth Art Capitol Art Exhibition. The exhibit showcases pre-K through 12th grade works of art from across the state.

“I was very excited, honored, and surprised,” said Minnix. “I really did work hard on it and I’m proud of what I made.”

Minnix’s artwork was one of 14 pieces from across the state chosen by Mrs. Abbott selected for the prestigious recognition.

Each year, the Office of the First Lady of Texas selects a group of artworks from the YAM State Capitol Exhibit to be showcased in the Governor’s Business Office for one year. The works are framed by TAEA, and students are invited to a private reception in their honor.
