Man struck by train in San Marcos


SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) – Union Pacific is investigating an incident where one of their trains hit a man early Sunday morning.

A Union Pacific spokesperson said around 2 a.m., a southbound train struck Sedrick Smith, near Cheatham Street and Guadalupe, which is north of IH-35 in San Marcos.

Smith was transported to St. David’s South Austin Hospital with severe injuries.

There’s been no update on his condition at this point.

Early investigations say Smith was sitting on the tracks before he was hit. The investigation is still ongoing.
