Man hurt climbing out of window during duplex fire

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man was hurt after he scrambled out of a window when the north Austin duplex he was in caught fire. 

The fire started before 10:30 a.m. on the 10000 block of Golden Quail Drive. Fire was showing and there was a large amount of smoke when firefighters arrived.

A man was taken to the hospital in good condition after a neighbor helped him out of a first-floor window. A photo from the area shows blood near the shattered window.

One person from each side of the duplex was displaced.

One room and the attic were damaged, causing $100,000 in structure damage and $50,000 in damage to property. Investigators do not yet know what caused the fire.
