Man dies in hospital after Tuesday’s auto-pedestrian collision in east Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A pedestrian hit by a car at Manor Road and Loyola Lane in east Austin on Tuesday has died, Austin Police say.

When Austin-Travis County EMS arrived at the scene, they were able to return a pulse on the man, but he later died at the hospital.

Police say a 2008 maroon Cadillac was traveling north in the right lane when it hit a pedestrian standing in the middle of the lane.

The driver remained on scene, APD says, and no charges are expected to be filed. APD has not yet identified the man who died.

The man’s death marked the 86th fatal traffic crash of 2019, in which 88 people died. In 2018, 74 people died in 73 crashes.
