AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man was arrested at the Austin Bergstrom International Airport Saturday morning after “a revolver type handgun” was found in his bag at security.

An officer on duty at ABIA was called to an airport security checkpoint around 7:17 a.m. after a firearm was found with a passenger in the secured area, per court documents.

A TSA employee informed the officer that the suspect, Tommy Lee Faison, 54, had a black backpack with what appeared to be a handgun in it, according to the x-ray machines imagery.

Faison said that the bag and gun, later identified as a Taurus .357 Magnum revolver with six rounds of ammunition, was his. He claimed that he forgot to remove the firearm from it after his last hunting trip before his flight that day.

After running a check for license and warrants, the officer found that Faison did not have a conceal carry license. Faison was arrested for committing the offense of “places weapons prohibited.”
