Man arrested, accused of attacking man with bladed cards at church

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man was arrested Saturday for allegedly throwing metal bladed playing cards at someone during a church service in northwest Austin, according to Travis County deputies.

The incident occurred at 14525 Bois-D-Arc Road in Manor. Enrique Gomez, 26, was arrested after he allegedly threw metal playing cards with sharp edges at another churchgoer.

The victim told police that he and his significant other knew Gomez and considered him an acquaintance, According to the victim the three of them were all sitting in the back room of the church. He got up to use the bathroom, and when he returned Gomez began throwing the bladed cards at him. Gomez allegedly threw two cards before he was tackled by others in the church.

Police report that Gomez admitted he threw the cards at the victim. He told them he bought the cards two-weeks earlier and practiced how to throw them. According to Gomez, he, the victim and his significant other, got into an argument earlier in the month. Gomez states that the victim threatened him believed that he had a gun with him at the church.
