AUSTIN (KXAN) — Interstate 35 at Oltorf Street will be closed Thursday night, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
The closure, originally scheduled to begin Wednesday, was postponed to Thursday.
According to TxDOT, these closures are so crews can remove overhead sign bridges.
The first closure will take place Thursday night from 11:45 p.m. through 5 a.m. the next morning.
Northbound and southbound lanes on I-35 will fully close near Woodland Avenue, as well as the entrance ramp. All traffic will be diverted onto the I-35 frontage road.
Woodland Avenue at I-35 will close at 9 p.m. Drivers are advised to use Oltorf Street or Riverside Drive to cross I-35.
On Friday, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. southbound I-35 will be reduced to one lane in between the Woodland Avenue/Oltorf Street exit up to the entrance ramp north of Oltorf Street. The southbound entrance ramp at Woodland Avenue will also close at this time.
On Monday, Oct. 29, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. US 183 southbound will fully close all main lanes at I-35. Drivers will be diverted onto the frontage road before being allowed to get back on the highway at the ramp before Cameron Road.
Drivers should also be aware that southbound traffic on I-35 frontage road at Huntland drive will be closed starting at 11 p.m. Monday night through 5 a.m. Vehicles will be diverted through Middle Fiskville road.
These closures are part of the Mobility 35 program.
