AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas Tech men’s basketball is playing for the NCAA National Championship for the first time in school history. The Red Raiders will tip off against Virginia for the national title at 8:20 p.m. Monday in Minneapolis.
Texas Tech is looking to become the second men’s program from Texas to win the Division 1 National Championship, joining Texas Western in 1966.
The Longhorns basketball program last reached the Final Four in 2003, but haven’t played for a national title. Texas and Texas Tech could be considered rivals which could lead to an awkward range of emotions for Longhorns watching Monday’s title tilt.
