WASHINGTON, D.C. (KXAN) — You don’t have enough fingers to count the times you get illegal robocalls. Lawmakers are aware of the issue and they’re holding a hearing on the topic Thursday morning. The hearing is titled “Illegal Robocalls: Calling ALL To Stop The Scourge.
The U.S. Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, Innovating, and the Internet will examine the Federal Communications Commission’s first report on robocalls. The panel is also looking into the steps Congress is working on to stop the illegal calls.
Next week, the Senate will look at Senator John Thune’s TRACED ACT. Part of the proposal would allow the federal government to fine offenders up to $10,000 dollars per call.
