Lamar Boulevard under railroad bridge brightens up with new artwork

Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Things are changing under the Lamar Boulevard railroad bridge underpass. The art installation along it is getting a makeover, but it is only temporary.

The walls were painted bright blue along with wavy rainbow lines.

It is part of the city’s TEMPO 2018 program, which is meant to place temporary art around Austin.

The program’s expansion, TEMP Refresh, is an initiative in which an artist is invited to re-imagine an existing work in the city’s Art in Public Places collection

This is the inaugural year of the pilot program, and artist Laurie Frick has been asked to create an installation on top of the blue signs of Carl Trominski’s “Moments” on the Lamar Boulevard railroad bridge underpass.

The original “Moments” artwork was installed along the Lamar Bridge Underpass 15 years ago.
