AUSTIN (KXAN) — New York Senator and democratic presidential candidate Kirsten Gillibrand visited the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders Thursday afternoon to discuss the importance of women in leadership roles.
In her speech, Gillibrand discussed the legislation she’s working on, including laws requiring equal pay for equal work, universal Pre-K, affordable daycare and a national paid leave plan.
The trip was Gillibrand’s first trip to Austin since announcing her candidacy for president.
Gillibrand added: “I got to come to the Ann Richards school today, which was amazing. And I’m doing campaigning. I actually have supporters down here who are supporting my presidential campaign.”
