K9 unit, helicopter assist APD with overnight shooting that left 1 hurt in south Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police K9 units and helicopter helped during an investigation overnight after a man was shot in the early hours of Wednesday, according to the Austin Police Department.

The shooting was reported just after 1 a.m. at the 5800 block of Zachary Scott Street off Old Lockhart Road. 

As officials responded to the area, the K9 unit and helicopter assisted to secure a perimeter, police tweeted at 1:15 a.m. 

Two people were found at the home where the shooting took place. One suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital by emergency medical personnel. The second person was not hurt. 

Police didn’t immediately have suspect information available though, at 2 a.m., police said investigators would remain at the scene.
