AUSTIN (KXAN) — Do you dream about sliding down a tortilla chip into a giant bowl of pico de gallo? Do you often find yourself in heated debates over where to get the best tacos in town? Well then, taco aficionados in Austin may find Tacotopia to be just their bowl of queso.

Tacotopia is a family-friendly playground themed around all things taco, with various rooms filled with immersive installations. Giant tortilla slides into foam pico de gallo, a churro heaven staircase and taco teeter totters are just a few of the experiences available to guests.

“Austin is the number one city for taco love,” said Alex Machuca with Tacotopia.

This taco-inspired experience follows a similar theme to another whimsical adult playground, The FOMO Factory, which opened back in November of 2018. Both Tacotopia and the FOMO Factory, along with experiences like the Museum of Ice Cream, seem catered around providing their guests countless opportunities for Instagram worthy photos. Machuca said guests may even spot some Instagram influencers if they visit.

“We just want to provide people a fun experience and incorporate their favorite food,” Machuca said.

Tacotopia will open ahead of SXSW and run from March 1-31 at 3208 South Congress Ave. It will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the week, then turn into a private event space. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for those age 4-12 and can be bought online.
