Hundreds show up to first day of SXSW volunteer call

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Hundreds showed up with the hope of volunteering for SXSW 2019, even though this year’s festival’s dates aren’t lining up with spring break for students.

The festival runs from March 8 through 17, but Spring Break for students in Austin Independent School District and who go to the University of Texas at Austin runs from March 18 through 22. Many of SXSW’s past volunteers are students.

The choices include being a conference or music venue volunteer and the opportunity involves being a part of one of 30 different crews including event signage, gaming expo, SXSW pitch, stage crew, registration, conference access and parking.

If you’d like to volunteer, you can attend one of two more upcoming volunteer calls hosted on the following dates at the Austin Convention Center:

  • Sunday, Feb. 10 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Ballroom DE on the fourth floor
  • Saturday, Feb. 23 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Ballroom AC on the first floor
