Hundreds become heroes to fundraise at CASA Superhero Run

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Kids and adults of all ages became superheroes for a cause during the CASA Superhero Run in North Austin Sunday morning.

Hundreds of people gathered together at the IBM Client Innovation Center for the event, dressed up as their hero of choice, to run and raise money for the CASA organization. The event began at 7 a.m. with activities including a costume contest, and continued at 8 a.m. with the 5K race.

Kids joined in on the fun as well with their own 1K race, chasing villains to the finish line. The charity event closed out with the awards ceremony and a dance party.

All of the day's events benefited CASA, a non-profit group that advocates in court for children who have been abused or neglected. CASA of Travis County has about 750 volunteers and serves almost 1,850 children a year. For more information, visit CASA's website.
