AUSTIN (KXAN) — APD is looking for an Austin woman who allegedly stole a prescription pad from her employer and filled out multiple fraudulent prescriptions.
Jennifer Ann Deer, 38, an employee at Baylor Scott and White, is accused of allegedly stealing a prescription pad from the hospital where she works. According to the affidavit for warrant of arrest, Deer’s employer was contacted by a pharmacy on Brodie Lane in south Austin about a prescription brought to them by Deer for 180 hydrocodone pills for her husband.
The BS&W Risk Management team stated that the pharmacy also had a record of addition prescriptions filed for Deer and her husband for opiates. According to the pharmacy, all the medication was prescribed by Deer’s supervisor, who told authorities he never prescribed such drugs to either Deer or her husband.
Deer’s employer told APD that Deer was in charge of maintaining his prescription pad and managing the prescription logs. He told officers he would often sign a prescription for patients before having Deer fill in the details and adding it to the log.
