AUSTIN (KXAN) — A homeless man was arrested Friday after making his way into a UT dormitory and assaulting an officer, according to University of Texas police.

Police received a call to the Jester dorms at east campus Friday around 12:22 p.m. The caller told campus police that a man had gotten into the dorms and up to the second-floor dining area, J2.

An assistant manager at J2 asked the man to leave the dining area, but he refused. According to witnesses, he made his way into an employees-only room behind the register. The assistant manager says the man eventually left the dining area but continued to panhandle throughout the dorm.

When police arrived, they were able to identify the man as 26-year-old Adam Mason Miller.

Police say Miller hurriedly walked away from them when approached, and while being detained he resisted, injuring one officer’s elbow and kicking another in the chest.

Miller was arrested for assault on a police officer.
