Heading out of town this weekend? US 183 closure to affect airport-bound traffic

AUSTIN (KXAN) — If you’ll be traveling to ABIA this weekend, plan ahead for midday closures on US 183.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority will be closing a portion of southbound US 183 between 51St Street and FM 969 (MLK Jr. Boulevard) on Saturday, May 11 from 1 a.m. until 9 a.m. for bridge construction.

During the closure, traffic on southbound US 183 will be detoured onto westbound 51st Street. To merge back onto US 183 southbound, drivers will turn left (south) on Springdale Road then left (east) on FM 969. From there they will be able to turn right (south) back onto US 183 southbound.

The closure is expected to impact drivers heading towards Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on Saturday morning, as well as other drivers heading south on US 183. 

SCHEDULED CONSTRUCTION CLOSURES:

Saturday-Sunday (5/11-5/12) from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., US 183 southbound to northbound U-Turn at Manor Road will be closed.

Saturday-Sunday (5/11-5/12) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., various closures on US 183 main lanes in both directions at Manor Road.
