AUSTIN (KXAN) — Gov. Greg Abbott brought in Hanukkah alongside Jewish community leaders at the Texas Capitol on Sunday.
He joined local leaders at the Menorah Lighting Ceremony and lit the shamash candle of the menorah.
“Today, as we celebrate this festival of lights, we are reminded of the remarkable strength and resolve of the Jewish people,” said Gov. Abbott. “The lessons of Hanukkah have endured and remain relevant in our lives today.”
This evening I joined in the celebration of Hanukkah and the lighting of the menorah in front of the Capitol. I emphasized the unity Texas has with Israel and our shared values including the freedom of religion. #HappyHanukkah #txlege pic.twitter.com/0NE074zsuG— Greg Abbott (@GregAbbott_TX) December 2, 2018
