AUSTIN (KXAN) — Gov. Greg Abbott brought in Hanukkah alongside Jewish community leaders at the Texas Capitol on Sunday.

He joined local leaders at the Menorah Lighting Ceremony and lit the shamash candle of the menorah.

“Today, as we celebrate this festival of lights, we are reminded of the remarkable strength and resolve of the Jewish people,” said Gov. Abbott. “The lessons of Hanukkah have endured and remain relevant in our lives today.”

“Cecilia and I wish a joyous Hanukkah to the Jewish community here in the state of Texas, across America, and around the world,” Gov. Abbott said.
