Bad news as Austinites get ready for the work week: Gas prices are at their highest level in 3.5 years.

According to AAA, the national average is $2.81 per gallon. Here in Austin you can expect to pay $2.56 per gallon.

For some perspective, the price spike during Hurricane Harvey never surpassed $2.50.

Now for the good news: the price of oil is no longer expected to rise, which will help retail prices of gasoline become more consistent.
