AUSTIN (KXAN) — Fortune magazine recently named Austin’s Chief of Police Brian Manley to its list of World’s Greatest Leaders.

Manley’s write-up highlights his work with the area’s homeless population and Latin-American immigrant communities. Additionally, the paragraph reads: “And he earned widening acclaim last year by keeping the city calm during a terrifying string of bombings.”

According to the list, Manley’s impact can also be seen in the fact that Austin boasts the third-lowest rate of violent crime among the 30 biggest U.S. metro areas.

Manley sent this response to KXAN on his recognition:

While I’m honored to receive this recognition, I realize this accomplishment is based on everyone that works for the Austin Police Department. I’m proud of the men and women who serve our community with professionalism and compassion each and every day.

Manley was ranked No. 49 on the 50-person list, which includes Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Robert Mueller and Apple’s Tim Cook.
