Fire overnight causes $25K worth of damage


AUSTIN (KXAN) — A catering company and an art studio have thousands of dollars worth of damage after an early morning fire in central Austin Tuesday.

Austin firefighters rushed to the business at 2823 Hancock Dr., which is listed as Classic Catering. When they arrived, they saw Priscilla Robinson Studios at 2811 also was on fire on the outside.

The Austin Fire Department said it appeared the fire started in a small shed nearby, and spread to the two buildings. The fire started around 3:17 a.m. and was under control in 10-15 minutes. It was out completely in about half an hour.

The small building burned completely, and the building with the catering company received $20,000 worth of damage. The art studio building had $5,000 in damage.

No one was hurt, and both businesses were closed at the time. The Austin Fire Department is investigating the cause.
