AUSTIN (KXAN) — Family members have identified a man who was found with a gunshot wound at a north Austin house on Sunday.
Family told KXAN the man who was found shot is 26-year-old Eric Allen. On Wednesday, police confirmed his identity.
“He did nothing but provide for his kids,” said LaQuisha Allen, who is Eric’s sister. “He provided for his family if you wanted it he gave it to you, you didn’t have to ask multiple times if he’d seen that you needed it he had no problem giving it.”
The department got the call to respond to the incident on the 12500 block of Rampart St. just after 12:30 p.m. The street is just off of West Parmer Lane in between Mopac and I-35.
When officers, fire crews and Austin-Travis County EMS arrived on scene they found a male in his 20s with a gunshot wound. They tried to save him but he died there.
“My brother made it to 26 years old he can’t even spend Christmas with his kids this year,” Allen’s sister said.
She said he was a father of four. Police said there were two children at the house at the time of the incident.
“A 10-year-old and a nine-month-old got to watch their daddy die today, that’s the hardest thing in the world that you can see is your daddy laying on the floor dead,” she said. “They want to know what happened, it’s going to be hard for us to tell them.”
Police previously said a woman who lives at the house was cooperating with them and they later confirmed she was the one who shot the man. Family of the man told KXAN the woman was his girlfriend.
At last report no arrests had been made and no charges had been filed.
Police said there is no danger to the public and are investigating the incident as a homicide.
