AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Police identified the victim of a fatal auto-pedestrian hit-and-run collision near the intersection of South I-35 service road and East Oltorf Street.

Austin-Travis County EMS and the Austin Fire Department responded to the scene Wednesday night, shortly before 9:30 p.m., in the 1600 block of E. Oltorf St., right near the I-35 service road.

The victim was identified as Doris Pitsenberger, 76. Preliminary investigation from the Austin Police Department showed that Pitsenberger was crossing the road when she was hit by the vehicle.

Detectives are still working to identify the driver of the vehicle, which was dark in color. The driver did not stop to help Pitsenberger, and she died on the scene.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 86th fatal crash of 2022, resulting in 88 fatalities so far this year.
