Elderly woman found dead in home after house fire near Lago Vista


AUSTIN (KXAN) — A woman was found dead after a house fire Thursday morning in Marble Falls, near Lago Vista according to Travis County officials. 

The fire was reported before 6:30 a.m. in a home at the 26000 block of Ranch Road 1431. It took fire crews about 20 minutes to reach the fire, according to Travis County Emergency Services District-1 Division Chief Dave Wallace. 

20 minutes to get a fire truck on a working fire it, just, it just can’t happen, he said.

When the flames were knocked out, officials found the body of a 78-year-old woman in the home. Two men who also lived in the house made it out safely. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

The Travis County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the woman’s death.. she has not been positively identified yet.  The Fire Marshall’s Office is still investigating the cause of the fire
