AUSTIN (KXAN) — The kids aren’t going back to school for another week, but you have to get back to work. Some parents are scrambling trying to find help because their daycare is closed for the holidays.
JuiceBox Hero has a list of drop-in care around the city.
“There’s more than 30 different places around Central Texas for folks to be able to drop-in, to find childcare for young children up to older children as well,” said Laurie Felker Jones, who founded JuiceBox Hero.
Drop-in care can be used for a few hours at a time and the site only lists places licensed by the state.
“Your kids also might want something else to do, and so even with the weather like this it’s great to be able to have a place that’s safe, that’s fun, that gives parents and kids a break from the regular routine,” said Felker Jones.
The start-up launched over the summer and helps parents narrow down the search for pre-k, daycare and after-school programs.
Parents can put in a zip code and JuiceBox Hero narrows down the search.
Felker Jones says they now also offer one-on-one consultations and can work with families individually to find the right child care.
