Driver hits, critically injures man near downtown Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A 60-year-old man is critically injured after being hit by the driver of a vehicle near downtown Austin Sunday night. 

Austin police said the call came in around 9:30 p.m. to the area in between East Riverside Drive and Cesar Chavez Street on the northbound side of I-35.

The driver did stay at the scene. 

Austin-Travis County EMS said there are two patients, one with non-life threatening injuries and medics are taking a 60-year-old man to Dell Seton Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries.

Expect closures and delays in the area.
