AUSTIN (KXAN) — Some of you may have spent many a night dreaming, like Selena used to say, but not of someone, instead, of something — that something being the limited-edition Selena bag.
Today, the bags will go on sale at all H-E-B, H-E-B plus!, Joe V’s and Mi Tienda stores. They cost $2 and there’s a limit of two per person.
However, this time H-E-B is releasing a new design.
“We worked with Selena’s family on the design of the bag,” Felicia said. “It has two different sides: the ‘mirror outfit’ that she wore that’s pretty iconic on one side with the logo and then it says, ‘Siempre,’ which means ‘always,’ Selena.”
The store put an announcement on its website last month, saying the bags will arrive in stores and online Dec. 6 at 6 a.m. or when the stores open.
In March, the company released the bags with black and white photos of the late singer with a pink border, and “Queen of Cumbia” written on one side. H-E-B gave $25,000 to the Selena Foundation, which gave some of that money to the Boys and Girls Club. It’s not clear if the new bags will also benefit a charity.
Last time, there were long lines at many H-E-Bs, and the bags sold out quickly. Stripes also released limited-edition Selena cups this year as well.
The Queen of Tejano died at the age of 23 in 1995.
