AUSTIN (KXAN) — As you’re circling around the parking lot of the shopping mall on Black Friday, make sure you don’t park in a spot where you shouldn’t be parking to avoid hefty fines.
Over Black Friday Weekend, deputies and volunteers from Travis County Constable Precinct 5 will be out at various Austin shopping sites to enforce disabled parking laws. Authorities say they’re looking for people who are breaking the law by using a disabled parking placard that belongs to someone else or park in the spot when they “clearly do not need one.”
Deputies will also seize placards that are being illegally used or expired. The fine for violating accessible parking law begins at $500.
