Collision involving dump truck on I-35 sends one to hospital

Part of Interstate 35 closed for several hours north of U.S. Highway 183 after it and another vehicle collided.

The truck’s small saddle tank ruptured and spilled a significant amount of diesel fuel after the collision just after midnight, according to the Austin Fire Department. Police closed the northbound lanes of I-35 as they investigated and as crews cleaned up the fuel, and it reopened around 5:30 a.m.

The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries, according to Austin-Travis County EMS
