AUSTIN (KXAN) — Police are working a bank robbery along North Lamar Boulevard just north of Rundberg Lane Wednesday morning.

The robbery happened around 9:40 a.m. at the Chase Bank located in the 9900 block of North Lamar Boulevard. Police say the suspect, described as a black man in his 40s, came into the bank, brandished a handgun and demanded money. The suspect also left behind a suspicious package, which forced the evacuation of the building. A bomb squad determined the package was not a danger to the public.

The suspect was wearing a tan ski mask and a green sweatshirt with a white horizontal stripe. The suspect left the scene in a silver Chevrolet Malibu with dark tinted windows.
