CapMetro’s ‘Kids Ride Free’ program to become permanent

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Capital Metro and AISD are coming together Thursday to celebrate the decision to make the “Kids Ride Free” pilot program permanent.

The permanent change to the transit system’s fare structure was approved by the Cap Metro board of directors. This allows all students in grades K-12 to take free rides in Central Texas.

The pilot program began in June of 2018, and has received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from parents and children alike.

The celebration will take place Thursday morning at 10:15 a.m., and will be held at the Fulmore Middle School on East Mary Street in south Austin.
