Capital Metro to provide bus service to more areas outside of Austin core

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Catching a bus is easier said than done if you live outside of Austin's urban core. To make it easier for people who live in the outskirts, Travis County and Capital Metro have agreed to a transit plan to bring mass transportation to those areas starting in the fall of 2019.

The plan, developed by the county and Capital Metro, will bring buses to the "urbanized" but unincorporated areas of the county.

The two entities will spend this fall going over details on service lines and an overall service agreement.

The Travis County Transit Development Plan is the latest in a series of interlocal agreements between Capital Metro and other cities to bring bus service to their area.

Most recently, Capital Metro and the city of Pflugerville have partnered to prepare a Transit Development Plan for the city.

Last year, Capital Metro launched service in Round Rock with several routes.
