Cap10K race canceled due to threatening weather warnings

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The 42nd annual Statesman Cap10K race has been canceled, according to the organization’s website early Sunday morning.

The event shared an initial update via Twitter, at 6:40 a.m., saying that the race would be delayed by 30 minutes. People were also told to stay in their cars for their safety, and avoid congregating on the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge.

The event quickly shared an update on its site, declaring that the race has been canceled due to a weather warning. The notice included an apology saying, “It is with very heavy hearts that we announce that the 42nd Statesman Cap10K has been canceled. We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment.”

According to the update, the next race is scheduled for April 5, 2020.
