Bus crashes into vehicle on East Seventh Street


AUSTIN (KXAN) — A crash in east Austin Wednesday morning between a bus and a car sent one person to the hospital, according to Austin police.

The crash occurred around 5:45 a.m. Wednesday morning in the 1200 block of East Seventh Street. A driver was attempting to turn right on a red light going from Lydia Street to Seventh Street. According to police, the driver didn’t yield to the oncoming bus.

The vehicle turning right suffered substantial damage and the driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. APD has decided not to cite the driver.

The bus was not carrying any passengers at the time of the crash and the bus driver was not injured.
