Big 12 says no ‘Horns Down’ gesture for UT-OU championship

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Any Sooners player who flashes the ‘Horns Down’ gesture at the championship matchup between the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas will be penalized, the Big 12 confirmed this week.

OU Coach Lincoln Riley spoke about the clarification during a radio show Tuesday, according to SportsTalk 1400AM radio station. He said the Big 12 Conference said the team will get a penalty if they use the gesture.

“Yeah, we can’t do it,” the Oklahoman reported Riley saying. He checked on the rule after West Virginia players were flagged for using the gesture during its game with UT at the beginning of November.

The Longhorns meet the Sooners Saturday for the Big 12 Championship Game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Kickoff is at 11 a.m.
