Austin World War II vet gets a new american flag and home renovation

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A World War Two veteran living in Austin was given a new flag outside of his home Friday.

Leaders from the Austin Police department, the Freedom Riders, and Texas Natural Gas placed a brand new US flag in front of Louis Hick’s home.

For the past couple of weeks, volunteers have made improvements to the 92-year-old veteran’s home. They plan to start cleaning the area, landscape and make the house safer to live in.

“I’m overwhelmed. Just whew. You didn’t take a fist and knock me out you just knocked me out period,” exclaimed an emotional Hicks.

The flag was donated by Austin Flag and Flagpole inc.
