AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department and the FBI are searching for a bank robbery suspect in northeast Austin on Saturday.

Officers got the call to respond to the Woodforest National Bank inside the Walmart at 1030 Norwood Park Blvd. just before 5 p.m. The area is near where Highway 183 and I-35 meet.

Senior Austin Police Officer Marcos Johnson said in a briefing that a preliminary investigation shows a man went inside the store, displayed a weapon and left with an undisclosed amount of money.

He is described as an unshaven white male, in his mid-30s to 40s and wearing a white shirt, blue shorts, a white ball cap, dark shades and had several tattoos on his arms.

While leaving the scene on a bicycle, he left behind his ball cap and police were able to recover it.
