AUSTIN (KXAN) — The city of Austin announced Thursday that the Austin Municipal Court South Substation will close March 1.

The substation — located at 5700 Manchaca Drive — will close for operations due to the expiration of the city’s lease on the building. The services and staff members of the substation will be absorbed into the main downtown location, which will be located at 700 E. Seventh St. until the end of 2019.

The court anticipates it will move its main location to the Bergstrom Tech Center at 6800 Burleson Road. The South Substation won’t be necessary after the move to the tech center, which will be 15 minutes away from the current location.

According to the court, it will work with stakeholders to accomodate anyone who misses a deadline or payment because they went to the South Substation after it closed.

An additional substation is located at 12425 Lamplight Ave.
