AUSTIN (KXAN) — While most people are still trying to soak up what is left of summer, the Austin Independent School District is gearing up for back to school!

On Saturday, Aug. 4, the district in collaboration with the city is hosting its 13th Annual Back to School Bash at the Palmer Events Center from 12 p.m.-3 p.m.

More than 4,500 backpacks full of school supplies will be given away, along with a limited number of car seats, eye exams and glasses, wellness screenings and haircuts to AISD students at this free event.

The Austin Public Library will also have its bookmobile on site.

If parking is an issue, AISD is providing free shuttles from locations throughout the city. For a full list of shuttle locations, click here.

AISD students return from summer break on Monday, Aug. 20.
