AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin’s United Soccer League team broke ground Wednesday on its new stadium in southeast Austin near the Circuit of the Americas.
The stadium will seat more than 5,000 people and the field will be a “premier pitch where veteran players and future stars will want to compete,” according to Bobby Epstein, the chairman of Austin Bold FC. The team was officially founded in 2018 and will have its first season in 2019.
The $5 million stadium will be paid for by the team’s local ownership, and it will be nestled right near the Grand Plaza at COTA. It will have a covered grandstand, and either individual seats or bar-style stadium seats.
