Austin Animal Center reaches capacity, sends plea for adopters

Austin animal shelter overcrowding

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Animal Center is sending out a desperate call for adopters after reporting they have reached critical capacity at their facility Friday.

According to the AAC, they have taken in nearly 100 animals in the past two days, and have run out of places to put them. They are specifically asking for people to adopt or foster medium or large dogs. The AAC stated that in the past six months they have had to use a conference room as a kennel space for many of the animals, but even that space is no longer enough.

Adoptions fees are only $75 and include spay and neuter surgery, appropriate vaccinations as well as a microchip and ID tag.

Available services at the AAC can be found at their website here.
