AUSTIN (KXAN/ Austin Business Journal) — Six-figure jobs are more common in Austin than most other places in the country, according to a new study by Ladders Inc., a career website focused on high-paying jobs.
The study found Austin has 4,303 job openings with that level of pay in May and Austin was ranked at 13 on Ladders’ list of the top 15 cities for high-paying jobs. Houston falls right above Austin on the list, with 4,619 open high-paying jobs. But Houston’s population is about 7 million compared to Austin’s 2 million.
The San Francisco Bay Area topped the list with 26,924 job openings. With the median home value above $1 million in many cities in the Bay Area, it’s worth considering both the advantages and drawbacks of having such a high concentration of six-figure jobs.
