AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport launched phase one of a new nine-gate expansion terminal Thursday.

ABIA’s $350 million project includes nine new gates and an outdoor terrace overlooking the airfield. In addition, the terminal will get a new baggage claim area.

The terminal was designed and built by architecture and interior design firm Gensler, as well as contractor and builder Hensel Phelps. Both companies worked alongside ABIA’s Planning and Engineering Division.
