APD seeking information on suspect who shot 10-month old baby

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department is still seeking information on the suspects — specifically a female person of interest — in relation to the Feb. 24 shooting of a family home which ended in the injury of a man and the critical injury of his 10-month-old son.

APD’s initial investigation revealed that the victims heard a knock at their door at the 1800 block of Wooten Park Drive, quickly followed by gun shots being fired through the door into the residence. A man and a woman who were seen near the door both before and after the shooting are considered persons of interest in this case. While there is limited information on the male subject, APD has some information on the woman.

The female person of interest is described as:

  • Hispanic or White
  • Between 17 and 25 years of age
  • Approximately 5’ 2” and 120 pounds
  • Blonde hair (possibly dyed)
  • Last seen wearing a blue hoodie with pink flowers

Additionally, detectives are seeking information about a vehicle of interest. It is described as a light-colored — possibly silver or tan — SUV with a large body style similar to a Cadillac Escalade or Lincoln Navigator. APD has a few photos of the vehicle:

The man suffered non-life threatening injuries as he tried to save his son from the living room where he was sleeping on a sofa.

The infant was immediately taken into surgery that night and into another surgery the next day. According to APD, the child is still in the hospital and is showing signs of improvement but still has a long recovery ahead of him.

If you have any information, you’re asked to call the APD Gang Hotline at (512) 974-8600.
