APD is asking for help in tracking down suspect from 2018 burglary


AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police are looking for a suspect facing burglary charges for allegedly breaking into an east Austin apartment complex mailroom and stealing multiple packages back in 2018.

Abraham Escamilla, 36, is accused of breaking into the mail room of an apartment complex on the 2400 block of East Sixth Street back in August of 2018. The management of the complex told police that two men were seen on the surveillance footage ransacking the delivery room, but were unable to be identified.

Surveillance footage of another burglary in January of 2019 showed who police determined was Escamilla. According to police, after reviewing the new surveillance footage they were able to identify Escamilla as the suspect in the 2018 burglary as well. APD reported that Escamilla was the suspect in numerous crimes of similar nature.

In a tweet Thursday, APD is asking for help in tracking down Escamilla. they are encouraging anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact APD Crime Stoppers at 512-452-5223.
